Data Center and the Cloud Field Hearing On Tuesday, May 14, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee's Subcommittee on Government Operations called a Field Hearing entitled "Data Centers on the Cloud: Is the Government Optimizing New Information Technologies Opportunities to Save Taxpayers Money?" Steve O'Keeffe testified before the committee, on behalf of the MeriTalk community. Please see here for details on the full hearing. Despite Progress Feds Challenged with Cost Savings The Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative (FDCCI) placed data center consolidation at the forefront of Federal agency technology initiatives. With a 2015 deadline, agencies are scrambling to meet the goal of closing 1,200 data centers. A new study, "The FDCCI Big Squeeze," reveals that Federal agencies are realizing the benefits of data center consolidation, but struggle to produce quantifiable numbers to demonstrate cost savings.
