Devotion to mission and making a difference began early. At age 17, he joined the Navy and attended Basic Underwater Demolition school and qualifying as a member of the elite Navy SEALs serving on Seal Team 5 and Seal Delivery Vehicle Team 2. He left the Navy and continued to serve the nation at Naval Sea Systems Command where he helped investigate solutions after the USS Cole incident.

As technology progressed there became a need for leaders and he joined the Department of Health and Human Services to help transform the mail service. When the Executive Office of the President (EOP) experienced a failure in its storage area network that caused the loss of all email for the White House, he was selected to be on the 5 man team to rebuild the entire email infrastructure. Within 36 hours, a complete server, network, and SAN rebuild was completed and all email functionality was restored.

Joining OPM in 2010 he has lead the Agency through some of the darkest times and developed a leading Incidence Response program and security architecture that the Office of the Inspected General rated as one of the top within the Federal government. The Agency has received numerous awards for innovation and was the first Agency to complete Phase 1 of the DHS Continuous Diagnostic and Monitoring (CDM) initiative.
