The Air Force announced on July 17 the retirement of Kristyn Jones who previously served as Under Secretary of the Air Force in an acting capacity.

Jones stepped into the role of under secretary in March 2023 and later returned to her prior role of comptroller following Melissa Dalton’s confirmation to under secretary in May.

While in the role of under secretary, Jones implemented enhancements to cybersecurity through zero trust and ICAM, and spearheaded initiatives that increased the transparency of IT spending, modernized business systems, and provided “innovative capabilities” for warfighters, the Air Force said.

Before working for the Air Force, Jones was Managing Director of KPMG’s Federal Advisory practice. Jones held other positions in government including serving as the director of the Senior Executive Service and deputy assistant of the Army for Financial Information Management.

Jones worked as the director of enterprise transition planning at the Department of Defense Business Transformation Agency prior to her current role as comptroller.
