U.S. Cyber Command (CYBERCOM) has a new Senior Enlisted Leader, who is responsible for advising leadership on military workforce issues and advocating on behalf of military personnel. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Sheryl Lyon, who previously served as the Command Sergeant Major of the U.S. Army Cyber Command, joined CYBERCOM after the departure of Marine Master Gunnery Sgt. Scott Stalker, who left to fill the same position at U.S. Space Command.
“I’m humbled to serve as your Senior Enlisted Leader and Advisor,” said Sgt. Maj. Lyon, an Arabic linguist who enlisted in the Army in 1991, during a ceremony. “I look forward to serving and working with you all.”
“Lyon has an exceptional track record of serving the interests of our troops and their families, and she’ll no doubt apply that here,” said Gen. Paul Nakasone, the commander of CYBERCOM and Director of National Security Agency (NSA), during the ceremony. “She represents what makes the senior enlisted leaders so critical to our military, and as the first woman to hold this position here, I know she is a role model for everyone to look up to.”
