The U.S. Army is turning to industry for input on how to best merge three of its largest IT services contracts, according to a request for information (RFI) posted to SAM.gov last week.

According to the RFI, the Army is actively considering the potential merger of the Army Contracting Command’s Enterprise for Sourcing Services (ACCESS) acquisition with the successor to the Army Computer Hardware Enterprise Software and Solutions (CHESS) office Information Technology Enterprise Solution – 3 Services (ITES-3S) contract, ITES-4S.

The Army’s contracting command is particularly interested in “information and conducting market research that will be used for planning purposes to determine the appropriate acquisition approach for the ACCESS effort.”

The RFI is the first in the service’s Contracting Command plans to replace the current Responsive Strategic Sourcing for Services (RS3) multiple-award contract with the ACCESS acquisition.

“This possible merger is based on ongoing initiatives to create a comprehensive and premier marketplace for knowledge-based Professional Services and Staff Augmentation, provide maximum flexibility, and support to the Federal Government Missions,” the RFI reads.

The RFI consists of 11 questions, including questions on whether the merger of ACCESS and ITES-4S makes sense and whether ACCESS should include more professional services than its predecessor, RS3.

All responses to the RFI are due by May 3.
