The White House nominated Dana Deasy, current CIO of the Department of Defense, to be CIO of the Department of Defense today. The process is necessary because the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act made the CIO position a Senate-confirmed one, so even though Deasy already has the job his nomination has to go through the Senate confirmation process. Deasy has served as DoD CIO since May 2018.
