Unisys Gets Contract to Modernize Customs Tech

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) awarded Unisys a four-year Integrated Traveler Initiatives (ITI) contract. Under the contract, Unisys will modernize CBP’s technology for identifying people and vehicles entering and exiting the United States. The ITI contract is one part of CBP’s Land Border Integration (LBI) project, which Unisys has been working on since 2010.

NYU’s Steinhardt School & StartEd Will Host NY Edtech Week

New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, and StartEd, an ed tech accelerator, will host NY Edtech Week. Centered at NYU’s Greenwich Village campus, the conference will run Dec. 19-21, and will focus on how entrepreneurship and ed tech drive advancements in education and learning. According to NYU’s press release, the 2016 NY Edtech Week innovation festival will expand on past events that have brought together hundreds of technology innovators, early-stage investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers, media representatives, researchers, and teachers to foster new partnerships and exchange best practices.

McGraw-Hill Education Acquires Redbird Advanced Learning

McGraw-Hill Education acquired Redbird Advanced Learning, a digital personalized learning company that offers courses in K-12 math, language arts and writing and virtual professional development programs for educators. Redbird’s products enable a highly personalized learning experience for students and allow students to move at an individual pace according to their skill level. The acquisition is expected to enhance McGraw-Hill Education’s current math offerings. Since 2013, when McGraw-Hill Education became an independent company, it has now acquired four  ed tech companies as it emphasizes its focus on delivering personalized learning experiences and open digital platforms to students, educators, and schools. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
