Maj. Gen. Ryan Janovic took over command of the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence (CCoE) on August 2, succeeding Maj. Gen. Paul Stanton who is set to become the new director of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).
Janovic first joined the cyber ranks as the deputy commander of Joint Force Headquarters – Cyber (Army) in 2019. He most recently served as the director of operations for U.S. Cyber Command at Fort Meade, Md.
The Army CCoE is responsible for the modernization of cyberspace operations, signal and communications networks and information services, and electronic warfare. In his new role, Janovic will oversee the development, organization, training, and education material produced by the center.
Janovic’s 31-year career in the Army has included service in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was a 2008 White House Fellow and a distinguished National War College graduate. He first began his career as a platoon leader in the 201st Military Intelligence Battalion, 513th Military Intelligence Brigade at Fort Gordon, Ga.
Stanton, who led the Army CCoE since June 2021, was confirmed by the Senate on July 31 to succeed Lt. Gen. Robert Skinner as the director DISA and commander of the Joint Force Headquarters-Depart of Defense Information Network (JFHQ-DoDIN).
