The annual AWS Summit is coming back to Washington, D.C., on June 26-27 and featuring some of the Federal government’s top cybersecurity and artificial intelligence policy-makers to shine a light on current policy initiatives and where they are heading next.
The AWS Summit – which is free of charge to all – is taking over the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a packed agenda featuring more than 300 sessions covering both technical and non-technical topics for public sector officials at all stages of their cloud journeys.
On the Federal government front, the speaker lineup is headed by Acting Principal Deputy National Cyber Director Jake Braun, who sits in the White House’s Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD). Braun is helping to lead the implementation of the Biden administration’s 2023 National Cybersecurity Strategy.
AWS Summit attendees also will hear from Elizabeth Kelly, director of the U.S. AI Safety Institute (AISI), which was created by the Biden administration’s 2023 AI executive order to advance the science of AI safety and facilitate safe and responsible AI innovation. Housed within the National Institute of Standards and Technology, AISI is embarking on a new strategy vision announced by Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo last month, who said the institute is “fully engaged with civil society, academia, industry, and the public sector so we can understand and reduce the risks of AI, with the fundamental goal of harnessing the benefits.”
On the national defense side of AI development, Defense Department Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer Dr. Radha Plumb will break down Pentagon initiatives to harness AI tech. Just last week, Plumb rolled out a new plan to bring in more companies to support the Defense Department’s (DoD) effort to scale its data, analytics, AI capabilities – with DoD’s Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) as the first program in line for support.
Also on the can’t-miss agenda for the AWS Summit are Avery Alpha, Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis at the Department of Homeland Security, and Michael Sellitto, Head of Global Affairs at Anthropic.
AWS will be bringing its best expertise to the Summit, with all signs pointing to expert guidance on how public sector organizations can leverage cloud services to create the next wave of AI-driven technologies to improve their citizen service missions.
Here’s a look at some of the top sessions for public sector professionals at all levels of government:
Dave Levy, Vice President of AWS Worldwide Public Sector, will keynote the Summit by exploring how AWS is driving digital transformation across the public sector by speeding modernization, improving resilience, and unlocking the benefits of generative AI and other advanced technologies to improve government agency missions.
AWS’ Rishi Bhaskar, Alla Seiffert, Rebecca Wetherly, and Matt Yanchyshyn will lead the Public Sector Partner Summit to share insights from AWS partners across the public sector spectrum who are driving technology transformation, innovation, and mission impact.
And that list is just scratching the surface what’s available for public sector professionals. Check out the entire agenda here and customize your own Summit lineup.
Registration is free and easy, we’ll see you on June 26 and 27.
