The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is looking for a new Chief Data Officer, according to a job posting on USAjobs.gov. The CDO would serve in a dual role, also with the responsibilities of deputy director of Human Capital Management and Modernization (HCMM).
The post also comes with a seat on the Federal CDO Council, where OPM’s Acting Director and Chief Management Officer Kathleen McGettigan has served in place of a CDO. It is a senior executive-level position that would advise the director of HCMM on establishing standards, protocols, and governance for human capital data.
The CDO would be in charge of all things data at the Federal government’s primary human resources agency. The agency is looking for someone that “champions a culture of data and evidence-based decision making” to advise the director of the HCMM, executive director, and other senior-level officials on governmentwide human capital data initiatives.
The CDO also would have the responsibility to, “lead efforts to track and integrate data collections, data purchases, databases, physical data models, and linkages between data sets across OPM and integrates data lifecycle management activities and data quality measures on behalf of OPM,” the posting says.
OPM is looking for someone results-driven with business acumen and a track record of building coalitions, leading people, and leading change. The job posting closes on May 13, and the agency says it is looking to make a job offer within 40 days of the closing date.
