Bo Berlas

Bo Berlas is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) where he leads cybersecurity strategy, policy, operations, and implementation of the agency security program. He has over 21 years of combined Information Technology and cybersecurity experience spanning both private industry and the Federal government.

Beyond day-to-day security operations efforts, Bo architected the underlying framework for security assessment and authorizations of cloud solutions in Government; facilitated some of the first cloud authorizations; and, supported development of the FedRAMP program and FedRAMP Tailored. Bo is currently leading efforts to transform GSA cybersecurity to a more operational security footing with a focus on Enterprise Security Visibility, Security Automation, DevSecOps, and Ongoing Authorizations/Continuous Monitoring. In his previous role, Bo was Director of Security Engineering at the GSA where he led Security Architecture/Engineering, Cloud Security, and Incident Response capabilities.

Bo earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and Decision Science/Management Information Systems from George Mason University; and, holds a number of project management and security industry certifications including PMP, CISSP, CCSP, and AWS-CSA.
