Darryl E. Peek II is the Director of Operations in the DHS/OCIO/OCTO. Darryl Peek is a dynamic IT leader, strategist, consultant, project manager, subject matter expert, acquisition professional and organizational change agent with extensive experience in utilizing and implementing business systems and processes to drive results. Darryl exhibits and models influential leadership and communication skills while promoting collaboration amongst leaders and peers. He improves efficiency of IT security operations by developing solutions which meet business objectives in addition to the implementation of quality strategies. His knowledge of federal government and industry standards along with legislation which includes EOs, FISMAand OMB IT and cybersecurity related memorandums makes him a formidable authority in various technology topic areas. Darryl has a passion for research and developing parallels around complex topics and emerging technologies. He is a firm believer that simplicity of message is necessary when discussing topics people care about.
Mr. Peek has a diverse professional background in information technology ranging from acquisitions, strategy, systems development, systems test, systems integration, operations, data analysis, information assurance and management in private and public sector organizations. Mr. Peek significantly contributed to organizations achieving Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Levels 3-5 for Development, International Standards Organization (ISO) 9000, 20000, and 270001 certifications. Mr. Peek is an award winning speaker with the Toastmasters International Organization and regularly speaks at events regarding topics of cybersecurity and personal achievement. Mr. Peek has been with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for 3 years.
Mr. Peek has a Computer Engineering Bachelors of Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a Systems Engineering Masters of Engineering from Penn State University. Mr. Peek is also an award winning speaker with Toastmasters International. He currently resides in Clarksburg, MD with his wife and 2 children.
