James Jackson

Jim Jackson serves as the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Investigations, Headquarter Operations, for the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) Office of Investigations (OI). Mr. Jackson is responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of TIGTA OI’s investigative specialties, to include the Forensic Science Laboratory, Strategic Data Services, Electronic Crimes, Intelligence, Internal Affairs, Procurement Fraud, and Technical and Firearms Support programs.
Mr. Jackson previously served as the Special Agent in Charge of TIGTA’s Electronic Crimes and Intelligence Division, where he was responsible for managing TIGTA’s Criminal Intelligence/Counterterrorism program, Cybercrime Investigations Team and the Digital Forensics Support Group, all of which leverage computer experience and expertise in order to provide TIGTA Field Divisions with criminal intelligence and analysis on potential threats to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) personnel, facilities, or critical network infrastructure, as well as provided support and advice concerning the searching and seizure of computers and computer related media. Mr. Jackson also managed TIGTA’s Strategic Enforcement Division, where he oversaw an aggressive program developed to identify possible fraudulent activities and control weaknesses within IRS operations, including the detection of potentially unauthorized accesses to electronic taxpayer records maintained within IRS computer systems. Prior to joining TIGTA, Mr. Jackson was the Resident Agent in Charge of the East Coast Region of the Computer Crimes Division within the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Office of Inspector General, Office of Investigations.
