Laurie Ludwig

Ms. Ludwig serves as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Information Technology (OIT) Zero Trust (ZT) Program Manager since the program’s inception in February 2022. In her role supporting the Cybersecurity Directorate (CSD), she set up a team of Zero Trust subject matter experts to develop and implement a robust CBP Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA). Using her program management skills, Ms. Ludwig developed an OIT-wide collaborative effort to facilitate the development of strategies and processes for ZTA implementation across CBP technology infrastructures. Laurie and her team developed a Senior Executive Dashboard to track and report ZT/ ZTA efforts ensuring they are executed in an integrated and coordinated manner with transparency and accountability of all on going OIT ZT related projects.

During her time with OIT, prior to the establishment of the ZT Program within OIT, Ms. Ludwig served as a project manager for OIT’s Cybersecurity Directorate; providing her expert skills to successfully complete multiple critical projects to ensure CBP’s cybersecurity posture. She has been recognized by OIT’s Assistant Commissioner and Chief Information Officer as an exemplar Program Manger for her efforts in leading OIT ZTA implementation.

Prior to joining CBP, Ms. Ludwig supported the Department of the Army as a civilian for over 10 years under the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology). Her roles included software license manager, configuration manager, and release manager for two enterprise information systems before becoming a project officer. During this time, Ms. Ludwig received multiple Special Act awards, an Army Achievement Medal for Civilian Service, the Army Commanders Award for Civilian Service, and a Logistics Specialty Award in Information Technology for Configuration Management from the International Society of Logistics.

Ms. Ludwig attended George Mason University and studied Communications. She is also a Certified Scrum Master, Certified Scrum Product Owner, and Certified Agile Leader. In her free time, Ms. Ludwig enjoys supporting local animal rescue groups, developing her international culinary skills, and spending time with her family.
