Shawn Wells is the Chief Security Strategist for Red Hat’s North American Public Sector organization, where he works on improving the process of adopting, contributing to, and managing open source security technologies within the U.S. Government. Recent initiatives include working with 18F on the OpenControl project, which simplifies the Government ATO process; collaborating with DoD and Lockheed Martin on building a cross-domain super computer; maintaining Red Hat’s US Government configuration baselines with NSA; and co-authoring linux container security guidance with NIST.
Formerly an NSA civilian, Shawn was the senior developer of the Al-Qaeda Senior Leadership SIGINT DB (AQSLDB), which ingested, exploited, and analyzed High Power Cell Phone (HPCP). Academic work includes Data Science at Harvard, technical strategy and innovation at MIT Sloan, nuclear energy at Stanford, and is a graduate from Carnegie Mellon’s CIO University.
