Vu Nguyen

Vu T. Nguyen has served as a member of the Federal government’s cybersecurity efforts for over two decades and has played a critical role in shaping the future of the Federal government’s cybersecurity posture. Mr. Nguyen is focused on bringing industry best practices to enhance the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) cyber and infosec processes, including in security operations, vulnerability management, computer forensics, information assurance, and incident management.
Mr. Nguyen currently serves as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the DOJ. In his role as CISO, Mr. Nguyen provides leadership, strategic direction, and oversight to the Department’s cybersecurity initiatives.
Prior to his role as DOJ CISO, Mr. Nguyen served as acting CISO at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), where he managed the component’s cybersecurity defense initiatives as well as enhanced, secured, and matured information technology defense systems.
Before joining the USCIS, Mr. Nguyen served as the Director of the Federal Information Security Modernization Act Compliance and Metrics Division at the DHS. Mr. Nguyen also served as the Director of DHS’s Security Operations Division.
Mr. Nguyen holds a Master of Science in Telecommunications focused on cybersecurity and computer forensics from George Mason University (GMU) and serves on GMU’s College of Engineering and Computing Advisory Board.
