The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is developing a Cybersecurity Practice Guide through its National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) and Communications Technology Laboratory (CTL) and are requesting comment to refine the project’s scope.
The new draft project, titled Responding to and Recovering from a Cyber Attack: Cybersecurity for the Manufacturing Sector, is the start of a process to “further identify project requirements, scope, hardware, and software components for use in a laboratory demonstration environment.”
“In the laboratory, the NCCoE will build an example solution using commercially available technology that demonstrates an approach for responding to and recovering from a cyberattack within a manufacturing environment by leveraging the following cybersecurity capabilities: event reporting, log review, event analysis, and incident handling and response,” NIST wrote in a request for comment.
“The project will result in a freely available NIST Cybersecurity Practice Guide,” NIST adds.
NIST notes in the draft that comments should be submitted on or before April 14, 2022. Interested parties can also assist in shaping the project by joining NCCoE’s Manufacturing Sector Community of Interest.
