The National Security Agency (NSA) has appointed Kristina Walter to lead its Cybersecurity Collaboration Center (CCC), the agency announced on Thursday.
The announcement marks Walter’s comeback to the CCC, where she previously played a pivotal part in the center’s establishment. In her prior positions as CCC strategist and chief of cybersecurity for the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), she helped shape the standards and operations of NSA’s DIB Services and the overall mission of the CCC, NSA said.
Walter is taking over as head of the center from Morgan Adamski, who was recently named Executive Director at U.S Cyber Command.
“I am extremely excited to have a CCC alumni returning as our chief and look forward to her leadership as the CCC continues to capitalize on our industry partnerships across multiple different fronts,” Adamski said in a statement.
“[Her] role in the initial standup of the CCC makes her the perfect person to take on its leadership,” said General Timothy Haugh, who heads both NSA and U.S. Cyber Command.
Most recently, Walter served as the lead for NSA’s Future Ready Workforce Initiative, which plays a critical role in ensuring that “NSA is a premier workplace that combines a fulfilling mission, engaged leadership, and a positive, healthy, and supportive work environment.”
“Her recent work as the Director of NSA’s Future Ready Workforce Initiative illustrates her strong commitment to advancing an innovative NSA workforce, which will prove critical for advancing the future-focused mission of the CCC and its efforts to partner with industry, the DIB, and others,” Haugh said.
Walter also led NSA’s program build activities to deliver a validated and justified Consolidated Cryptologic Program and Military Intelligence Program budget to NSA’s overseers, and served as the executive assistant to the Director of the Business Management & Integration Directorate, assisting senior leadership in planning, executing, and administering high-level tasks.
