A horse named Cloud Computing won the Preakness Stakes on May 20, covering the mile and three-sixteenths race course in 1 minute, 55.98 seconds.
The race brought an unexpected awareness to the IT solution. Cloud computing, often referred to as simply “the cloud,” is the delivery of on-demand computing resources—everything from applications to data centers—over the Internet on a pay-for-use basis, according to IBM.
Federal agencies are turning to the cloud to update their systems and make their services more user friendly and–if possible–faster.
