Saurer has previously served as associate bureau chief, senior legal advisor to the bureau chief, and attorney-advisor at the FCC, as well as a stint as an advisor to former FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler. However, this is not his first time with the FCC, as he previously served as acting director and deputy director of the Office of Legislative Affairs. He has also served as special assistant to previous FCC Chairman Michael K. Powell.
