The House Armed Services Committee is standing up an acquisition task force that will examine supply chain threats and vulnerabilities.

In a March 4 press release from Reps. Adam Smith, D-Smith, and Mike Rogers, R-Ala., the chairman and ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee announced the Defense Critical Supply Chain Task Force.

“The bipartisan task force is chartered to review the industrial base supply chain to identify and analyze threats and vulnerabilities,” said the press release.

The Task Force will be co-chaired by Reps. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., and Mike Gallagher, R-Wis. They will be joined on the Task Force by Reps. Donald Norcross, D-N.J., Chrissy Houlahan, D-Pa., Mikie Sherrill, D-N.J., Don Bacon, R-Neb., Michael Waltz, R-Fla., and Stephanie Bice, R-Okla.

“Committee leadership can initiate a task force to execute oversight of issues that cross multiple subcommittee jurisdictions or are deemed worthy of special attention by its Members,” the release said. “Representatives Smith and Rogers initiated the Defense Critical Supply Chain Task Force to examine the existing industrial base supply chain.”

The Defense Critical Supply Chain Task Force will initially be activated for three months, with an optional renewal for an additional three months.
