Nikolaos Ipiotis has been tapped to serve as the new chief information officer (CIO) at the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) – an independent agency of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that supports research in the biomedical and health breakthrough – according to his LinkedIn account.

As the new CIO, Ipiotis will be tasked with modernizing IT and cybersecurity capabilities at ARPA-H to meet the agency’s health research needs and help create scalable solutions.

Prior to taking the helm as the CIO at ARPA-H, Ipiotis served as chief data officer (CDO) at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) – the parent agency of NIH – from 2021 until late last year.

From 2020 to 2022, he was an Information Technology Project Manager (ITPM) at HHS.

Ipiotis also has experience working as a service area manager at NIH for over six years, as well as serving as a branch chief at the National Science Foundation (NSF) from 2011 to 2016, and a senior associate at Booz Allen Hamilton from 1998 to 2011.
