President-Elect Joe Biden this week urged Congress to approve a COVID-19 stimulus bill similar to the HEROES Act approved by the House earlier this year, but didn’t get into further specifics about what he’d like to see in future relief legislation. “Right now, Congress should come together and pass a COVID relief package like the HEROES Act that the House passed,” Biden said in a November 16 speech delivered in Wilmington, Del. “And once we shut down the virus and deliver economic relief to workers and businesses, we can start to build back better than ever before,” he said. On the Federal IT front, the $2.2 trillion HEROES Act approved by the House on Oct. 1 featured a $1 billion funding bump for the Technology Modernization Fund (TMF) that would help Federal agencies undertake IT modernization to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus. The Senate has not taken up the House-approved bill.
