The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) on how to use artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for natural language processing (NLP) to gain insights into complex language in government policy.
“The NLP project may include statistical techniques that can provide a general understanding of the statutory and regulatory text as a whole,” OPM wrote.
According to the RFI, the NLP that OPM is seeking information on should include:
- Topic modeling;
- Text categorization;
- Text clustering;
- Information extraction;
- Named entity resolution;
- Relationship extraction;
- Sentiment analysis; and
The current response date for the RFI is April 19, and while OPM doesn’t plan to hold an Industry Day to go along with this RFI, respondents may be asked to go into OPM headquarters.
OPM also wants to get more information on chatbots and transactional bots that are easily implemented and customizable.
