The General Services Administration (GSA) has named the winners of its recent challenge to develop an AI or machine learning (ML) solution for reviewing end-user license agreements (EULA) for terms and conditions that are unacceptable by the Federal government.
Winning the first-place prize of $15,000 was Dev Technology, second place was Gaussian Solutions, and third was Team SoKat – each taking home $2,500 in winnings.
“The EULA challenge exposed how industry could provide IT solutions leveraging AI/ML capabilities within the acquisition business process. Together we can potentially accelerate the process to be more effective and efficient by leveraging these emerging technologies,” Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Acquisition at GSA Keith Nakasone said in a GSA blog post.
The challenge involved asking participants to develop a solution that could improve the manual process of reviewing EULAs, which can take 7-14 days. The end goal for the AI/ML solutions was to free up resources to focus on other aspects of the acquisition process and improve accuracy and consistency of the review process.
“Exploring the art of the possible for emerging technologies such as AI/ML to automate business processes for low level tasks can lead to innovative IT solutions— paving the way for the government to be more collaborative with industry and adopt commercial best practices,” said Nakasone.
