Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., said in a tweet late Tuesday that he supports a “full investigation” by Federal government authorities into Facebook over its dealings with political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica including the firm’s use of Facebook user data on millions of Americans to construct voter profiles.

The congressman said he supports the Federal investigation “to get all the facts,” and said he hopes the investigation is not “politicized.” He continued, “I am hopeful that Facebook will cooperate fully and be transparent, recognizing this a matter of public trust.”

Rep. Khanna issued his comment in response to a Washington Post report that the number of U.S. government agencies probing Facebook has grown to include the Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Trade Commission, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Justice Department. Facebook told the Post it was cooperating with government officials in the United State, United Kingdom, and elsewhere.
