The National Institute of Health’s (NIH) All of Us Research Program has launched a new project that will allow participants to provide more health information in addition to surveys, electronic health records, and biosamples. The FitBit Bring-Your-Own-Device project will give program participants the chance to share data from their FitBit devices to assist researchers. The aim is to develop a more complete picture of participants’ health by providing information on physical activity, sleep, weight, heart rate, nutrition, and water intake. The NIH program began recruiting participants in May 2018 with a goal of one million people providing information to speed up health research and medical breakthroughs.
