The National Security Agency (NSA) announced Rob Joyce will take over as the agency’s Director of Cybersecurity, replacing Anne Neuberger.

Joyce is currently serving as a senior United States liaison officer in London for the NSA. Previously, he served as the Senior Advisor for Cybersecurity Strategy at NSA.

Joyce has worked at NSA since 1989, holding various leadership positions, including the Chief of Tailored Access Operations (TAO) from 2013 to 2017.

Announcement of Joyce’s appointment comes after President-elect Joe Biden appointed Neuberger to a new role as Deputy National Security Advisor for Cyber and Emerging Technology on the President’s National Security Council (NSC). Neuberger has served at NSA for more than a decade and has been the agency’s Director of Cybersecurity since 2019.
