President Trump on Dec. 31 signed into law H.R. 5509, the “Innovations in Mentoring, Training, and Apprenticeships Act,” that would direct the National Science Foundation to provide grants for research about STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education approaches and STEM-related workforce issues. The bill provides for up to $40 million in funding for the law from FY 2019 through FY 2022, “subject to the availability of appropriations.”
