The Social Security Administration (SSA) has launched a new beta version of its website, complete with a new design to improve customer experience, the agency announced in an April 18 blog post.

The new design was based on feedback from customer interviews, and also includes new interactive tools, such as the benefit eligibility screener.

“We are excited to share a preview of our new website coming this year. is one of our most important tools for providing service. You told us we need to make it simpler and easier to use. So, we created a new design,” the blog post says. “We looked more closely at how our customers seek information online, and new design best practices.”

The agency is inviting customers to explore the new website at and to use the “Feedback” button on the right side of the screen to share their thoughts. The website is accessible on computers, tablets, and smartphones.

SSA said the website is “a work in progress.” For example, the agency said some links may take users to webpages on the current site. The agency also is still working on the Spanish-language version of the website.

SSA plans to gather feedback over the next few months to improve the beta website. The agency said it hopes to replace the current with the beta website’s design and information “later this year.”
