Public sector organizations are holding back on deploying robotic and artificial intelligence technologies due in part to concerns about how their employees will react to changes those technologies will bring and how they will interact with the new technologies, according to a report today from consulting firm Deloitte.
Deloitte reached that conclusion, among others, in its 2018 Global Human Capital Trends Survey which includes responses from more than 800 global public sector respondents.
The survey found that while public sector organizations are looking to benefit from AI-based software, robotics, workplace connectivity tools, and “people data applications,” employee-related concerns were a “significant reason” why 69 percent of respondents are not using AI or robotics currently.
Among public sector respondents, 63 percent believe AI and cognitive technology will have the “same” or “significant” impact on their workforce by 2020, the survey found.
