The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program can open business opportunities within the country and abroad for fledgling companies, according to Doug Bourgeois, Deloitte’s managing director of Federal technology strategy and architecture.

Bourgeois, who attended MeriTalk’s Cloud Computing Brainstorm on June 7, said companies should consider how FedRAMP can improve future business, as manifestations of the standardized cloud security certification have taken root at the state and global levels.

“They might not have a lot of experience working in Federal market. I think there’s a lack of understanding of how to navigate through some of these government processes. It kind of scares them off a little bit,” Bourgeois said. “Small companies need to look at how FedRAMP can improve business in future. It really opens up a really large market.”
