Rep. Will Hurd, R-Texas, has finally secured his seat in the next session of Congress, as his challenger, Gina Ortiz Jones, conceded the race on Monday. ā€œI want to thank my opponent and her supporters for engaging in the democratic process,ā€ said Hurd in a statement. Hurd, the current chairman of the IT Subcommittee of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and a key figure in IT modernization efforts, will serve his third term on Capitol Hill, but will find himself in the minority, as Democrats take control of the House in January.
