The Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) is looking to hire a director for its Cybersecurity Planning and Operations Directorate, located in the executive office of the President (EOP).

“As ONCD continues to grow, we are excited to announce that we are hiring a Director for Cybersecurity Planning and Operations, a GS-14/15 role responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of U.S. defensive cybersecurity planning and operations,” said ONCD in a tweet. “This position will collaborate closely with NSC, ODNI, CISA, FBI, DoD, and other departments and agencies.”

Along with the title of director, the position also functions as a principal staff member responsible for the formulation, coordination, and implementation of policy related to cyber defensive operational planning, resilience planning, and cyber incident response planning. According to a job posting on USAJobs, the duties of the position include:

1. Plan, direct, and coordinate the development and implementation of policies on defensive cybersecurity planning and operations in the U.S.;

2. Work with the Intelligence Community (IC), Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and other departments and agencies to maintain awareness of malicious cyber campaigns, cyber incidents affecting the U.S., and plans, tactics, and capabilities of malicious cyber actors;

3. Be responsible for all matters pertaining to the formulation, coordination, and implementation of U.S. Government policy related to cyber planning and operations; and

4. Maintain oversight and assess effectiveness of department and agency initiatives and defensive cyber campaigns.

The annual salary range for the position is $126,000 to $176,000, and the application deadline is August 29.
