The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has named Faith Roy to a dual role as the deputy chief information security officer (CISO), as well as the executive director for cybersecurity integrations, logistics, and planning in the Office of Information Security, a VA spokesperson confirmed to MeriTalk.

Roy’s appointment comes after the VA named Lynette Sherrill as the agency’s permanent CISO and deputy assistant secretary for information security earlier this week.

Roy assumed her new role on August 29, according to VA Press Secretary Terrence Hayes.

“Faith previously performed these duties in an acting capacity and brings a wealth of public and private sector expertise in information technology, human capital, and financial management,” Hayes said in a statement to MeriTalk. “We are excited to have Faith continue to serve as an IT leader at VA as we work diligently to deliver world-class health care and timely benefits to veterans.”

Previously, Roy served at the VA as chief of staff, a program management officer, and a lead program analyst for IT programming and portfolio management, according to her LinkedIn. She also served at the Department of State for over five years as a senior program analyst.
